As soon as you start thinking about your child joining a sports club or sporting activity, you often think of the obvious, such as football, rugby, dance, athletics, gymnastics, tennis and swimming (to name but a few). We all know what each one of these activities involves, but when it comes to a ‘fitness class’ for kids, many of us get a little confused as to what it is? Fitness to each one of us means something different? So, let me clear this up for you just a little by answering some common questions…
Children’s Fitness Classes – why should my child get involved?
Coyote Kids Fit Club is a children’s fitness class that works on the basic disciplines needed for all types of sport, as well as dance. These disciplines are:
- cardiovascular training (aerobic activity)
- agility
- speed
- strength
- stability
- balance
- flexibility
- mindfulness
Every single one of these disciplines will help your child develop physically and mentally, and gives them all the skills they need to assist their current sporting activities or those they may choose in the future, as well as improve their performance.
In a nutshell, our classes will give them everything they need to be active and excel in their chosen sport. If they are not into sport, it will give them everything they need to be an active, healthy and motivated individual.
What do you do in the fitness classes?
All our activities are suitable for children of all fitness levels and abilities. Each child is encouraged to support each other and to work as a team. Your child will be part of an active healthy kid community, they will be on a journey together and will gain skills that will last lifetime!
The classes are really varied throughout the term and include:
- Obstacle courses
- Balancing
- Running games and races
- Team games
- Ball games
- Jumping activities
- Body weight exercises, and so many more acitivities that keep them engaged and continually moving.
The classes are also structured around the use of child friendly fitness tests through Gym Run Colours. Children complete Five Challenges measuring speed, stability, strength, power and stamina. Every child reaches one of eight coloured stages in their unique Fitness Badge System.
